Wheel of life coaching exercise4/15/2024 ![]() Once your client is ready, ask them to allot a score between 0 to 10, depending on their level of satisfaction in each of the categories. Your client should not feel attacked by questions such as ‘Do you want to leave your partner?’ etc. When devising these questions, make sure that you keep them to the point and non-invasive. In ‘love’, possible questions could be ‘Are you free from past resentments from previous relationships?’, ‘Do you feel respected in your relationship?’, ‘Are you willing to risk your emotions for love?’ etc. It is recommended that you ask your client certain questions pertaining to each category, so that they are able to reflect before answering.įor example, in ‘career’, questions could range from ‘Do you see yourself growing here in the next 5 years?’ to ‘Do you like your work environment?’ Personal growth – This category revolves around self-development and learning.Īccording to your client’s particular needs, you can include less common categories like community, environment, productivity and performance, contribution and leadership etc.Self-image – A person’s body image and confidence come into play here. ![]() Recreation – This includes your client’s hobbies and passions, and the ability to nurture them outside of work.It can mean the search for meaning, God, or a purpose. Spirituality is the bond one shares with the Universe. Spirituality – Do note that this doesn’t have anything to do with religion.Friends – This represents their social circle and the strength of the bonds they share with their friends.Family – This is indicative of a person’s relationship with different family members and how it impacts them.However, the absence of a relationship does not amount to a zero in this category. If the client is in a relationship, then this represents their satisfaction with their partner. Love – This represents different things for people who are single and in a relationship.Health – This includes the physical, emotional, mental, and psychological well-being of the client.Money – This includes income, expenditures, and the importance of finances.Work and/or studies are constantly on an individual’s mind, and take up a huge chunk of their life. Career/Studies/Business – This is applicable to employees, students, and entrepreneurs respectively.To be able to say "yes" to your priorities, you need to say "no" to other things.Which area is a source of stress and how does it affect your overall life satisfaction?.Who are you becoming and who do you want to be?.Which of these areas would you most like to improve? Why are they important for you?.Which area do you tend to neglect or avoid? What impact does that have?.How do you feel about your life as you look at your wheel?.Your Wheel of Life Examples of Areas of Lifeįeel free to rename any area to make it meaningful to you. What may be satisfying or balanced for one person may be stressful or boring for someone else. Balance is personal and unique to each individual. Doing the exercise on paper will have more impact than simply thinking about it. Indicate your current degree of satisfaction with each area of life (1 = very dissatisfied, and 10 = fully satisfied) by connecting the numbers in the segment to form a wedge.Write the name of each area on the outer ring of a segment of the Wheel of Life.Select eight "areas of life" from the examples on the next page that you would like to explore.Consider doing the exercise periodically to benefit fully from it. ![]()
